Daniel 7 explained (verses 4-6) - under construction -    Some time ago, it became obvious that Daniel 7 was another timeline of end times that was beginning to happen in parallel with the final empire in Daniel 11.  To make a long story short, Persia is God’s chosen instrument to bring about end time events, not Israel as people have been led to believe.  Granted, Israel has a role in end times, starting in Daniel 11:28, but they are not the primary driver of events.  On the contrary, God is using Iran and Russia, which I’ve shown to be the ‘iron & clay’ in Daniel 2, to a much greater degree to facilitate the necessary changes to fulfill prophecies in Daniel 7 and 11, simultaneously.    When you think about it, that’s not so unusual because Persia has been used by God before, starting with their founder, Cyrus, whose name was prophesied by Isaiah, 3 times! (Isaiah 44:28; 45:1; 45:13)  Centuries later, Cyrus overthrew the Babylonian Empire and allowed the Israelites to return and rebuild their Temple in Jerusalem. (Ezra 1)  It’s also conceivable that the “wise men from the East” came from the Parthian Empire, which was an Iranian dynasty, who obviously had more information or help from God than the so- called “chief priests and teachers of the law.” (Matthew 2:1-12)  The Parthians were also part of the “four winds” in Daniel 11:4 so the Persians have been used by God on numerous occasions in the Bible.  Therefore, Christians should not be afraid of God’s instrument of choice to bring about the return of Jesus, which is going to happen one way or another, by the Bible    Note: Daniel 7 has ‘4 beasts’ but only the ‘last’ is “terrifying and frightening” because it’s the ‘post-rapture’ beast with ‘ten-heads’, as featured in Revelation 13.  The rest are just fulfilling prophecy.  Iran is the “Lion” in Daniel 7:4  (1st beast) 4 "The first was like a lion, and it had the wings of an eagle.  I watched until its wings were torn off and it was lifted from the ground so that it stood on two feet like a man, and the heart of a man was given to it.    This verse spans more time than it first appears.  The “wings of an eagle” is America’s inadvertent help, by eliminating Saddam in 2003, which is the first part of Daniel 11:22 After that, American sanctions literally tore their wings off but the recent nuclear agreement (which was a major part of Daniel 11:23) lifted Iran from the ground so they are standing on two feet like a man (so to speak in the Middle East).  That was made possible by the reformist president, Rouhani, and Foreign Minister Zarif, who were the ‘heart’ of the negotiations, if you know what I mean.  Russia is the “Bear” in Daniel 7:5  (2nd beast) 5 "And there before me was a second beast, which looked like a bear. It was raised up on one of its sides, and it had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth It was told, 'Get up and eat your fill of flesh!'     Russia was “raised up on one of its sides” when a passenger airliner was brought down,  while returning from Egypt, Halloween-2015.  After that, a Russian jet was downed by Turkey, while it was defending Assad in northern-Syria, November 24, 2015.  That was Turkey’s attempt to sabotage a meeting between France and Russia, following the Paris attacks, November 13, 2015.  It didn’t work but it gave Russia a very good excuse to bring in sophisticated missile defense systems and aircraft to hold the surrounding countries “between their teeth” (so to speak).  Russia is not exactly working with the West, but after terrorist’s attacks increased around the world, they essentially did what they wanted and “ate their fill of flesh”, from Assad’s enemies, and announced that their main goals were “fulfilled.”  A ‘mixture’ is the “Leopard” in Daniel 7:6  (3rd beast) 6 "After that, I looked, and there before me was another beast, one that looked like a leopard. And on its back it had four wings like those of a bird. This beast had four heads, and it was given authority to rule.    The “leopard” represents a “mixture” (many spots), so I believe the ‘four heads’ could represent Russia, Iran, Turkey, and either the Kurds or US, who fight together anyway.   Talks are still developing over Syria as to who is in charge but this verse really doesn’t play into the rapture because the abomination is not mentioned in Daniel 7.  In other words, there’s no way to tell if the rapture happens before, during, or after this particular verse.  Daniel 2:40 - 4th Kingdom of “iron & clay”       In 2010, I was trying to lengthen my original book on Daniel 11 and the Middle East. I was working long-hours on research and organization so I decided to take a break on the 4th of July.  In the spirit of the holiday, I began watching a documentary on the History Channel about the United States.  It just so happens that they were up to WWII.  They explained how America developed the atomic bomb and how Russia stole the technology a few years later.  Then, America developed the more-powerful hydrogen bomb but Russia stole that technology too.  To make a long story short, the Cold War struggle between the United States and Russia, which lasted 40+ years, reminded me of Solomon’s struggles, when God vowed to split the kingdom but not in Solomon’s lifetime.  Even though God vowed to wait, He still planned ahead and raised three adversaries to Solomon, one of which inherited the northern kingdom years later.  Likewise, if the United States was going to lose influence in the Middle East, as verse 22 implied, then someone was going to pick up the slack.  Given Russia’s long history as America’s adversary, they seemed to be the logical choice.      It stayed on my mind so that evening, I checked the Middle Eastern news, as I usually did, and Russia was in the headlines.  In brief, the former Russian President, Medvedev, decided to halt weapon sells to Iran because a forth round of sanctions had just passed the U.N. on 6-9-2010.  Further research revealed that Russia had been selling weapons to Iran since 2001, starting just 3-weeks after the World Trade Center attack.  (It seems that neither Iran nor Russia was very happy about the United States being in Afghanistan.)  That made me remember another article that I had printed out concerning Russia’s vote on the sanctions.  In that article, one Russian expert defended Russia’s “yes” vote by saying that Russia had never trusted Iran.  That struck me as strange, since they had been selling weapons to Iran for nine years, but never trusted them?  That reminded me of the “empire of iron and clay”, from Daniel 2, because the two countries were “different” but “together”.   Daniel 2: 40-43  “Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron—for iron breaks and smashes everything—and as iron breaks things to pieces, so it will crush and break all the others.  Just as you saw that the feet and toes were partly of baked clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom; yet it will have some of the strength of iron in it, even as you saw iron mixed with clay.  As the toes were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle.  And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay.”        For full disclosure, I must say that the NIV study notes say that the forth kingdom was the Romans but that does not explain the clay, nor does it explain the last kingdom either.    The next verse goes on to say, “In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed nor will it be left to another people.  It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end but it will, itself, endure forever.” (Daniel 2:44)    Obviously, that is speaking of Jesus’ kingdom but supporters of the Roman theory would say that it represents a spiritual kingdom, not physical.  I disagree because the Romans were not “crushed” or “brought to an end” by the spiritual kingdom.   A more logical explanation is that Jesus will crush the final empire (literally with hailstones), at Armageddon, and set up His own kingdom for a thousand years. (Rev. 20)       In other words, the forth kingdom of “iron and clay”, in Daniel 2, is the same as the final empire, in Daniel 11.  The two make the ‘confirmation’ in Daniel 9 to start the 70th Seven.  That leads to the ‘middle’, which is the ‘abomination’, which is the specific event that Jesus said to watch for, which will occur at the rapture.  That leads back to the real events, happening right now in the Middle East, matching Daniel 11, verse-by-verse, because those are the signs that Jesus was talking about.  Everything ties together and makes perfect sense.  (Note: The other two chapters of Daniel, which contain the abomination, namely 8 & 12, give lengths of time ‘after’ the abomination, so they are for ‘post-rapture’ purposes.)  Note: Russia is a Christian  nation, very different from Islam.  Nevertheless, they will stay together, at least until after the rapture.    I’m not sure how long they will stay together, after that, especially when the antichrist takes over.
