Daniel 11:39 He will attack the mightiest fortresses with the help of a foreign god  and will greatly honor those who acknowledge him.  He will make them rulers over many people and will distribute the land at a price.    Let me start by saying that one reason Revelation is difficult to understand is that the ‘beast’ and ‘kingdom of the beast’ are two different things, but Revelation seems to use them interchangeably.  To clarify, I think the ‘beast’ is Marduk, created by the ancient Babylonians, as I pointed out on the previous page, but the modern  ‘kingdom of the beast’ will somehow worship Marduk, after the rapture, because the antichrist will turn Muslims against God, even claiming to be above God. (verse 36)    Also, since the final empire in Daniel 11 is also the forth kingdom in Daniel 2, the ‘kingdom’ of the beast’ also consists of the “iron and clay”, which is Russia and Iran. Thus, it could be ‘Russia and the ECO’, which happens to surround the Caspian Sea. Revelation 13:1 “And the dragon stood on the shore of the sea.  And I saw a beast coming out of the sea.  He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on his horns, and on each head a blasphemous name.”    Since nothing in reality happens without preparation, Russia and Iran have been growing closer, over the past few years, and have finally joined forces in the Middle East, trying to help the Shiites conquer the ‘North’, which is ancient Mesopotamia.     They will be successful and the combination will grow ever stronger, during the first 3.5 years of tribulation, until they seem invincible, at least to everyone in their region. Revelation 13: 4-5 “Men worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast.  They also worshiped the beast and asked, “Who is like the beast?   Who can make war against him?”  The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise his authority for forty-two months.”    Keep in mind that Israel is safe, during this time, because the two witnesses prophesy in Jerusalem, for 1260 days (42 months), and nothing can stop them until they are finished.     Plus, no matter how strong the ‘kingdom’ seems to be, God will have the real power  because He has limited their authority to 42-months, which is the ‘end’ of the Trumpet plagues and ‘start’ the Bowl plagues, which is also the ‘end’ of the 70th Seven. (next page)    The illustration below shows how the ECO matches the description of the beast because of it’s historical and present composition.  Plus, the “littoral states” (who form the shoreline with Russia), have just voted to keep foreign navies out of the Caspian Sea. They have one purpose and will give their power and authority to the beast.”      Obviously, there would have to be a huge change after the rapture for this to occur because the ECO is mostly made up of republics.  Yet, Daniel 11:39 (top) says that they will attack somewhere and “distribute the land at a price” to those who “acknowledge the foreign god”, Marduk.  (The Muslims will know that their religion was false, after the rapture, so it won’t matter about being Sunni or Shiite.)     Since the ten horned beast comes out of a sea and Russia and Iran (iron and clay) are the strongest in the Caspian Sea, I suspect they will orchestrate the re-structuring of the ECO into kingdoms.  However, since it’s just for “one hour”, I don’t expect it to occur ‘right after’ the rapture, but it will occur during the trumpet plagues.    Although the actual beast is Marduk (previous page), the ‘kingdom of the beast’  will be a ‘combination’ of Russia, Iran, and the ECO, like spots of a ‘leopard’, as described below.  Revelation 13:2 The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear  and a mouth like that of a lion.  The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority.”      By coincidence, the ‘bear and lion’ have long been symbols of Russia and Iran. (left)  Note: That’s not why I chose Russia and Iran as the “iron and clay” but it certainly ties things together.  ‘Feet like a bear’ provides stability, like Russia providing military strength.  Iran provides the ‘mouth’, to utter proud words and blasphemies, which is what you would expect from Iran.  The other nations of the ECO complete the spots of the leopard because of their diversity.      Post-rapture theories are hard to prove or disprove because the biggest changes will take place after the rapture.  Yet, clues in the Bible show that the Middle East is following exactly what is expected, both before and after the rapture.  After all, big changes in the world usually don’t take place instantaneously.  Yet, to see the correct signs from the Bible, a person has to start where Jesus said to look: the ‘abomination’ from the Book of Daniel.          Both Russia and Iran have announced increased military presences in the Caspian sea.  Commander: Iran Fortifying Security Belt in Caspian Sea Fars News [Iranian] – December 7, 2013 Quote: Early in September, Iranian Navy Commander Sayyari said, "The role of the Caspian Sea in the region is not unknown to anyone given its geostrategic situation and giant oil and gas resources." Russia Plans Ambitious Year For Caspian Flotilla – Jan 14, 2014 Quotes: Russia plans to add an additional five warships to its Caspian Flotilla in 2014, as well as a number of support ships, setting the stage for this year to be the largest yet for Russian naval expansion in the sea.  Railroads are important    Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey (the original three) probably have their railroad completed, by now, which would be useful if they ever want to ‘unite for war’ such as described at the ‘end’ of the 70th Seven. Low-Key Caspian Sea Summit Has Far-Reaching Implications World Politics Review – September 30, 2014 Quotes: At yesterday’s summit, the five littoral state presidents … renewed their commitment to keeping non-Caspian countries from establishing a military presence on the sea. Kazakhstan’s Nazarbayev proposed that the parties consider establishing  a free trade zone and eventually an international organization, which would go beyond these periodic leadership meetings. The governments of the Caspian littoral states have justified their respective naval buildups by the need to combat terrorists, but the fleets they are developing could be used to fight other navies as necessary.     Not surprisingly, Russia and Iran have the largest navies in the Sea. Yet, the other majority Shiite nation, Azerbaijan, has the fastest growing  navy, of the other three.    An international organization has been proposed, which could merge with the ECO because the Caspian countries already belong.     It’s interesting that they have voted to keep foreign nations out. Russia and Iran Lock NATO Out of Caspian Sea The Diplomat – October 1, 2014 Quote: The decision to seal off the Caspian Sea from a foreign military presence now makes any plan for a NATO military base in the basin very unlikely. After Summit, Caspian Sea Questions Linger The Diplomat – October 2, 2014 Quote: The disagreements have resulted in uncertainty over the sea’s substantial oil and natural gas reserves, and has helped to fuel a naval arms race on the sea. Iran has been the most difficult negotiator, insisting on the principle that each of the five states on the sea should control an equal area – which, not coincidentally, would give it more than the 12 percent the other four countries believe it should control.    Russia and Iran have the most power in negotiations, not only because of their superior navies, but because of the previous agreement, which was between the Soviet Union and Iran.  (The other three countries are former Soviet republics.)  Note: The ‘dragon’ is Satan.  (Rev. 20:2)  Something to think about ... ‘beginning of the beast’? Revelation 13:1 “And the dragon stood on the shore of the sea.  And I saw a beast coming out of the sea.  He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on his horns, and on each head a blasphemous name.” Iran’s FM: Boosting Cooperation among ECO Members Helps Regional Development Fars News [Iranian] – November 26, 2013 Quotes: Earlier today, the presidency in the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Council of Foreign Ministers was passed to Iran  from the Republic of Azerbaijan. Caspian Sea  Russia &  10 nations of the ECO click to enlarge     Now, I don’t jump to conclusions but when several clues present themselves at the same time, it’s too much to ignore.     1. According to verse 24, the final empire will plot for a “time”.  Coincidently, a “time” is used in Daniel 12 to represent “one year” It just so happens that Iran became the rotating president of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) for one year,  exactly two days after the agreement in verse 23 was signed!      2. The first beast, in Revelation 13, comes out of a sea.  Well, together with Russia, the ECO completely surrounds the Caspian Sea (map), where Iran and Russia have been holding increased military exercises    3. The ECO was founded with 3 members and 7 more were added (7-years later) for a total of 10.  That number has not changed in over 20 years.  I don’t claim to have everything figured out but the first beast in Revelation 13 definitely has “10” parts with “7” embedded within, just like the ECO.  They don’t all have to be Shiite because they will follow the antichrist and turn to the beast, after the rapture, anyway.     *It was also interesting to see the ECO compare themselves to a 14th century empire in the “preface” (p. 4) of an ECO Charter, dated Feb, 28, 2011  [*Note: the link is gone now but I copy/pasted this quote while it was there.] Caspian Sea & 10 nations of the ECO Quote:  “The formation of ECO reminds one of the region’s medieval history when all these contiguous states formed part of the Empire of Amir Timur (1336-1405).” Note: Timur was not Muslim and ruled before Iran became Shiite.  He was known for his exceptional brutality. Caspian Sea Naval Commanders meet in Russia - July 2015    This meeting was significant because it was the first meeting of naval commanders in the Caspian Sea.  I’m just not sure who they are planning to defend against, if they are the ‘only ones in the Sea’.  Personal observation:    I haven’t updated this page, in a long time, because the situation doesn’t change very much.  That’s because Iran is better off if they don’t sign this agreement.  That’s because their old agreement, with the Soviet Union, gives them 50% of the Caspian Sea and this new agreement wants to give them less than everyone else.       Since Russia is not in any hurry to make Iran sign anything, they can hold off indefinitely, which will be after the rapture, and at that point, anything can happen.  updated 12-20-2015 Iran – Turkmenistan – Kazakhstan rail link inaugurated Railway Gazette – December 4, 2014 Quote: Describing the occasion as a ‘day of happiness’ for the region, Rouhani said the three countries ‘should make endeavours for further closer relations’ between themselves, to support ‘development, stability and security’.    Iran is also connected, by rail, to the two countries on the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea. (use map above)    It’s interesting to me that Russia was forced to change course and fly over the Caspian Sea, Iran, and Iraq, to get to Syria, which fits that the Kingdom of the Beast will originate from the Caspian Sea. For Members Only The Consequences of the Caspian Summit’s Foreign Military Ban Diplomatic Intelligence [EU] – September 1, 2015 Quote: Last September [2014] brought with it major changes to the hotly contested Caspian Sea region. …  Arguably, the signing of this agreement to ban foreign militaries has been the biggest game-changer to take place in the Caspian over the last 20 years. All of these make the United States and NATO much weaker than before the Summit began. Round One in this heavyweight prize fight has clearly gone to the Russian bear.    It seems the source of this article (EU), has also been watching the developments in the Caspian Sea and see that ‘the banning of outside navies’ was a major win for Russia.     One recent advantage was that there was no one to contest Russia’s use of Caspian airspace to travel to Syria, to help the Shiites, which compliments their role as the “iron” in Daniel 2.   updated below Caspian Sea and ECO News Syrian forces begin ground offensive backed by Russia  air and sea power         Washington Post – October 7, 2015 Quote: Russian missiles fired from Caspian Sea warships traveled more than 900 miles to strike targets in Syria on Wednesday as Syrian government forces opened a ground offensive.
